let's get started. let me start my musings by saying that i was able to watch an entertaining show over channel41 this morning. a rerun of a show entitled "chef versus mom." it was not a typical cooking show where chefs set the pans ablaze extolling to flaming heights their generous show off skills in the kitchen. it was even cute to watch as the show endears to you as the mom was the down to earth momma who buys stuff from the market, vis a vis the son in the grocery. she speaks as typical as any nanay will. even the banter in the kitchen was humorous.
the only thing getting in the way is the chef himself trying to be cutesy. hahahaha. kuya cute ka na! don't try to be pa cute. when the judges came to deliberate, it was coy to see them referring to their mom's cooking as their basis for judging. i mean, weren't they supposed to be objective and all? but being Pinoys that we are, we won't help that. trust me.
i guess the main thing going for me to try and catch the show again is that it's a reminder of how we are with our mothers. be it in the kitchen or otherwise, we are always babies in their eyes. which gives both positive and negative textures to such truth. for me, nothing beats my mama's cooking. always the comforting reward for a long day's work, despite my being not a good good son! she always cooks with all her heart.
HAPPY MOTHER's DAY po!
mama, i love you with all my heart [and hypothalamus] mwah-
